Alchemy of souls you have my soul πŸ™‚‍↕️

Hiii, today I'm here to yap about "Alchemy of souls".

I randomly started watching this Kdrama just a day before my exam out of boredom (of studying all day) and stress(because duh! exam). But omg, the best decision I ever made because I couldn't stop thinking about this MASTERPIECE of drama it is. All I wanted to do all day is watch this drama. Of course I restricted myself to watch just 2 episodes on day 1 but after that there was no stopping me.

I kept on going! 3-4 episodes per day was a normal for me for a week. And it was no joke because there were at least an hour and 10 minutes long sometimes even more.

I laughed more than I cried, I was on the edge all the time, confused curious and fascinated by truth revealing itself every episode. It was a rollercoaster ride, a ride worth of time!

It had drama, action, romance, comedy, fantasy, EVERYTHING πŸ’—πŸ’—

All the characters had their own stories, all giving the main character vibes and the dots connecting in this drama each episode was amazing. I don't remember having this much fun watching a show in a long time. (Ofc, there are many great ones but to name a few, 2521, A time called you, Vincenzo, and many more...)

**Already telling you if you don't want any spoilers to this show, then DON'T READ because it is worth your time and a no spoiler watch too. Plus, I don't trust myself to not spoil it for you**

Lee Jae-wook, playing the role of Jang-Uk(the main lead), the boy born under the King's star, child born through the Alchemy of Souls .I was really amazed by his character and performance. He instantly became my favourite because of his fun, cute and determined character. He was not all cold hearted male character types, he knew when to smile, have fun and everything. It was exactly the opposite from what I saw in "Extraordinary you", to be completely honest, I hated his character. I just don't like cold-hearted male leads(even though he was the second lead).

But here he is my favourite character of all time. I love Jang-Uk. ❤️

In season 2 though he went from cute to cold but that was understandable because of the past events but he never lost his true personality it was just he wasn't all happy and optimistic all the time.

Jung So-min and Go Young-jung played the female leads in season 1 and season 2 respectively. The character was of Naksu, the great shadow assassin ,being common between them but there were so many names they had. From Naksu to Mu-deok to Jin-Buyeon to Naksu at last. But there's one more, Cho-Yeong which was the name she was born with and given by her parents. So yeah, Naksu (is what I like to call her or just the name I find so cool to say) was a girl with 4 names.

Her father died in front of her eyes, she trained for years became an assassin to take revenge of her father's death only to realise she was betrayed by the man(Jin Mu) who was training her then she lived in someone else's body and watched her burn alive in front of her eyes. Then she got possessed by Jin Mu's divination for soul shifters and killed people she didn't mean to and dies alone at the end by jumping into the Lake. After she was recovered kept locked in that cage of a room for 3 years lost all of her memories and finally was at  peace because Jang-Uk saved her. She then yet again, was no more because her soul left the body of Jin Buyeon the moment she regained all her memories. But at last, thanks to Jin Buyeon/Jin Seol-ran she got to live in the former's body without running wild(leading to death unless feeds energy off of humans because body rejects of the soul) thanks to her divine powers.

She never got to live a normal life with one name but multiple lives with different names each time to survive (until she did finally). This fact was so disheartening that I cried for her when she died in season 1. I cried for her at the same time was excited to see Naksu in her real body played by Go Young-Jung in start of season 1. I loved the 2 fighting scenes I got of her wanted more but ok.

And I don't, just don't understand the hate for season 2 just because the actress was changed. Have you WATCHED the show!!?? It was her all along from the start and it was about time she came back to her real self.

Season 2 had such a dark romance vibes(not in the ways it is in those books but in the cinematography and chemistry) Jang-Uk's all black look and the fake-marriage of convenience trope was giving.

In the show, the 4 heirs of the most influential Mage communities were described as "the Four Seasons". Jin Cho-yeon as Spring from Jinoyowon, Park Dang-gu as Summer from Songrim, Seo-Yul as Autumn from Seohdo Fortress and Jang-Uk as Winter from Jang family. It fits them so well because Seo-Yul kept loosing his love of the life as in he never had a chance with her and Jang-Uk went from being a cutie in Part1 to cold-hearted in Part 2.

The other characters I absolutely ordered were,

1. Park Jin & Kim Do-joo: Their chemistry was so good. I cried when they died( they're alive) then was so happy for the ending they got.

2. Crown Prince Go-won: He was giving sucha brat, egoistic character vibes but became so adorable as the show went on. My favourite part was him and Jang-Uk giving couple vibes. Like, the prince was totaling in love with him(not really) trying so hard to be friends with him. The og Jade buddiesπŸ˜‚

3. Seo-Yul : He was such a nice, pure soul type character. I felt a bit bad for him at time to time with all he went through.

4. Master Lee: Can not not mention him. He was such a calm character always coming up with solutions the wise saint man he was(actually he is over a 100 years old)

5. Heo Yeom: He is just so funny. He looks always drunk to me with his red cheeks but anyways the scene lightens up on his arrival.

So enough of them and more of my Jang-Uk and Naksu. From the very first interaction he knew who she was really!! "Beautiful eyes" to "my crazy master" and the jade's bird eggs(red+blue) ahhhh season 1 is so heartwarming. Their story is so heartwarming and full of love and care for each other. The things they went through together and alone is what makes them such a lovely couple until THE DAY arrives. I felt so sorry for Naksu at that scene while enjoying her fighting scenes at the same time it hurt me a lot how it all went down with her and him.

In season 2, Go Young-Jung was such a cutie. I adored her. "I'm a rare beauty but with a foolish mind" is one of my favourite things she said in the show because she was nowhere near a fool (I really love female warrior characters) but the great shadow assassin, Naksu stuck in the body of Jin Buyeon(or should I say Jin Seol-ran, but since she was reborn it could be the latter) through alchemy of souls performed by her years ago. This whole narrative was soo interesting to watch. And their wedding ahhh so cute, so beautiful just perfect.

The whole show has such a vibe. They enteries of Jang-Uk in season 2 are my absolute favourite like ahh so cool. He is the strongest of all the people in that kingdom due to the possession of ice stone keeping him alive is one of the most coolest thing to think of. Because everytime something happened, the moment he arrives it was all GAME OVER for everyone. Everyone feared him.

Jang-Uk was the "light" to the "shadow" of Naksu in season 1 but when he fell apart he lost the most precious thing of his in the world, he changed. Then the arrival of Naksu as Jin Buyeon in his life was the "light" to his "shadow" dark world.

The show was all about him falling for her soul, her true self not the body. The kinda love which exists in the books and the movies was of theirs. True love is falling for someone's true self, their soul to go into deeper meaning, and not the body because then it's lust not love.

I love the scene where he goes to her mother and is like "My baby can't sleep"(wife in subtitles is given but I realised it yesterday he actually says that) and breaks that thread controller or whatever which was causing her immense pain. I was feeling stuff!!!!!

I really love this show!!!! No show was made like this ever. I absolutely adore this MASTERPIECE. 100/10 recommended to everyone. It has all the genres to satisfy you so watch it with full attention(for all the dots and dΓ©jΓ  vu moments) and hope on this roller coaster of the best fun you'll ever have.

PS: I have realised the best kdrama's I've watched are mainly on my phone because they've been so addictive that I couldn't stop watching and was so lazy to open a laptop to specially watch it.

For now, bye byee

See next time for more yap 🌸

Bisous
