something i love

Hi, as I said before I will be back. So here I'm!
I don't really have a perfect mapped out plan I'll follow while posting blogs. I'll just write what my hearts wants.

So I recently read "Better than the movies" by Lynn Painter, and I couldn't believe there was a time I thought it's not for me, it feels boring, too slow but I just didn't have the patience at that time to continue.
So one random day I started reading it and realised I love it! Romcoms are my favourite genre of movies and I instantly fell in love with Liz's(female lead) hopelessly romantic self(I'm too one as well, I do believe in fairytales and happy endings even though I'm aware of the reality), who loves romcoms as I do (but for sure she knows more than me) and Wes(male lead), the enemy, the villain in her life who happens to be her childhood next door neighbour.

So I instantly placed order for the hardcopies of the 2 books in the series because I know if I'm going to be reading this book, I better be not burning my eyes while doing so because it is addictive for sure.
So, when it arrived I finished it in a matter of days (I guess in 3 days) and after that I read Wes's pov and I became more and more obsessed with Wes&Liz.
Their banters, their fights, their conversations always seem so flirt-ioucs, the spark I just loved it. My fav trope is enemies to lovers afterall so it makes sense too why i love them. Then there was a bit fake dating and then after reading Wes's pov, chef's kiss.

The cover with all the romcoms references is perfect and Wes's black hair and Liz's red hair in these characters drawn is perfection 🤌🏻

**(Spoiler)***
He's in love with her since forever and he owns his feelings but never confessed until he realised she's into him. Their late night talks on the phone and the 'Secret Area' moment. The fact that Wes used to tease Liz just so he could have her look at her and she'll talk to him. God, who does that.
The ending to this book was perfect them together and the famous, "She's. Not. You" ahhhh
and "Enemies-to-Lovers. It's our trope, Buxbaum." I love them. I love the nicknames Wes has for Liz and only he gets to call her that ('Lib', 'Libby', 'Libby Loo', 'Buxbaum') and even encourages Liz to call him "Wessy" while teasing her. But I love especially when they go to each other's surnames, "Buxbaum" "Bennett"
Elizabeth Buzbaum & Wesley Harold Bennett have my heart & soul.

The other small stories from Lynn as bonus chapters are also so interesting. I loved every part of it.

I finished "Nothing like the movies" just yesterday. And I'll be completely honest I'm not over them 😭 it hurts how much I miss them I just randomly think about their moments, conversations, scenes just like a fool I've been daydreaming about them. I started reading the book after avoiding it for days because of the uni work but then on last Friday I got a bit spoiler about it, I was like there's no way this happened!!

**(Spoilers ahead)** Can't help it sorry I just read it so have to yap about it to someone 🤧
Wes could never cheat on Liz. He wouldn't dare, he would rather die. So I had to read it and I read 23 chapters in a day 😶 started in afternoon and ended it in around 3-4 am with breaks in between of course.
But then i didn't touch my book for 3 days, festive season, which killed me because whenever I looked it at my book on just laying there on the shelf to be read, I blushed so hard like an absolute fool thinking about them and yearned for it 🤧 whenever I caught sight of my book. I am crazy seriously 😂
So when I finally took my book again a day before yesterday, I read 10 chapters in 3 hours then slept it was really hard for me but had to because it was 4 AM in the morning 🙂
Then my last 13 chapters, I read them with all the love, patience, butterflies, interest, annotated and underlined my favourite quotes all over, I was hooked, seriously!
I've to say Wes&Liz are someone I have never read or seen before in the movies. It's is seriously 'better than the movies' in these books. But I gotta say, the 2nd book was way more interesting than the 1st one.
1.  For starters, there's pov of both Wes&Liz and Wes's pov is always my favourite because there's something about reading the guy's pov that's just does something to you. As a girl, you know the thought process of girls but to read the male pov you get the two sides of the same situation and it's just so interesting.

2. Then, the 'tension', the tension is tensioning in this book probably because of their breakup and then all the past stuff and attraction, love towards each other which caused it grow infinitely and their conversations are always the best, witty, sarcastic, teasing and flirty(mostly Wes because Liz is under the impression of being cheated so she's keeping her distance as anyone would). Also, the sports romance trope is kinda also in it plus they're in their 20s, so matured stages as before they were in their teens.

3. The new dynamic, the changed scenarios, times, places, new characters we were introduced. All of the characters in that book are greenflags. Especially, the Wes's fanboy and Liz's of bff, Clark. I love that guy. The relationship was very platonic between them which I loved because authors usually ruin this, and make unnecessary love triangles. Well, we know the girl is going to end up with the main lead so why make the second one suffer and not even have the courtesy to atleast not let him be lonely for life.

4. Liz's character has grown more with time, her way of handling her life, emotions and relationships is really fascinating to me. (Many people say she was annoying in the first book but tbh I never found her annoying I loved her then I love her now. She was just a teenager and many unresolved feelings so it's understood she was not the most likable and maybe I'm not that deep thinker. Anyways, I loved her,  ) She's a total girlboss while at work, a true friend when friendship is involved and has strong wills and opinions. People were actually kinda scared of her there bevause of how bold she is. It all happened probably because of the breakup and heartbreak because she was no longer the romantic Liz she was, silly little lover as Wes would say. So maybe it was for the better Wes gave her space she needed to grow and become a better version of herself but hurting her still not justified but again my poor Wes was not hurting any less, his father's death which he thought was his fault, then the family problems, bills he had to cover, jobs he had to take to cover expenses and taking care of his sister who was still in highschool at the time.
So yeah there's a lot going on this book. An emotional roller coaster, for sure, is this book. But it's worth every penny, every minute, every hour I spent on it reading, blushing, giggling, kicking feet, laughing and crying as well. I also realised courtesy to Pinterest what Wes was meaning to say when he said that Liz always wanted to be "Elizabeth Bennett" no as in marry him but "Elizabeth Bennett" from Pride & Prejudice were the trope is enemies-to-lovers. Whatttttttttt like this has changed my life now 😭 I love how cleverly this easter egg from The historical romcom was mentioned!!!
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So, yes I'm obsessed with them more than you can think of and Wes is now my favourite book bf, sorry Peter Kavinsky 🤧. I've not read the books or his povs to understand him better but I still love him just, Wes a bit more. But there's one thing clear for sure, Lara Jean is my absolute favourite because I see myself in her. Her fear of dating, falling in love and people leaving from your life more you make space for them in yours. So, yes LJ is my spirit animal. I'm basically LJ reading about romance but never experienced it. I'm LJ before she met her Peter 😂

The book has such a beautiful ending described at the end by the author. Also the fact the playlist in each book, chef's kiss. Liz's playlist obsession for each situation, scenario and relationship is perfect. Lynn really knows her books and the songs. How can I forget the quotes from the romcoms before the start of every chapter. Ahhh this book can't be anymore perfect when I think that, there's something else I remember about it instantly which I again love.
So back to the beautiful ending I was going on about.
**Spoiler again, sorry**
The ending had a leaf flowing from the stadium where the baseball match was happening and the moment Wes pitches, the crowd goes wild the lead flows from their to places related to Wes&Liz's story. At last from the headstones at the cemetery and fluttering between the two houses(of course, Wes&Liz's house), to the windshield of Liz's car, parked between the houses.
Just perfection ✨

I cried for a good time after I was finished with the last book because I knew I was gonna miss them since there's no more "one more" book left of them. But hopefully, Lynn will give some bonus chapters after this one as well. Also, "In between" by Gracie Abrams, the most perfect song for them.
There are just so many favourite moments, scenes and quotes of mine in this book that I ran out of my page flags stick notes every time. I am just grateful to have my books with me because whenever I'll be missing them they'll be just page turn away and thanks to my annotations markers I'll be able to relive those moments.
I will be forever grateful of Lynn Painter for these books. Can't wait to read her other books as well.(Also, I discovered "Nothing Like the Movies" came out just last year!! Like are you kidding me how did people wait since 2021 for so long to read more about them, I certainly couldn't 🤧)
"The do-over" and "Betting on You" by Lynn Painter are also in my tbr for now . The urge to just sit in a quiet corner and read books all day is real.
And to talk about my pain, i think starting a new one will help me move on but not until my exam are over 🙂‍↔️
For now, this is all I could say might add more later.

See you at my next yapping session 💗
